Slovakian Wirehaired Pointer

Developed in the 1950’s by Koloman Slimak to create a breed that could not only track and point, but also retrieve on both land and water, the Slovakian Wirehaired Pointer is one of the most versatile gundogs in the world.

Among the breeds used in development were the German Wirehaired Pointer, Weimaraner, Cesky Fousek and Pudelpointer.

The Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI) breed standard for the Slovakian Wirehaired Pointer was registered in 1996.

Weight: 50-65 lbs (22.3-29.5 kg)
Height: Male: 24.5-26.5 in (62.2-67.3 cm) Female: 22.5-26 in (57.2-66 cm)
Coat: Thick, wiry double coat.
Color: Gray and Gray Roan.
Life span: 12-15 years

Temperament:  Loyal, Athletic, Dedicated, Affectionate, Playful.

Health: Some may be susceptible to hip dysplasia.
