Default crate reaction

I have had similar problems with 2 dogs and CALM seems to be the key as the trainer shows indicate. Barking was also a problem, but attention before placing in crate and the instant I open the door. The Beagle now knows he will get petted when I open the door and so he does not get excited any more. Entering he gets a cookie and the command is cage. have tried to make it a happy protected area for him.

Coon hound had wetting issues for a few days, but has learned to go when let outside. interval is about 5 hours. longer if necessary.

My guess the pet gets excited and has an accident. Many of my dogs tend to go after play time. Several understand 'one more" and know that is the last ball toss. they generally then do their business.

hope this helps. good luck
