My wife and I are thinking of getting a Golden Retriever as a surprise for our 3 kids who range in age from 6 to 14. We'd love to hear feedback from others who have this type of dog - and - kids. Are they the great family dog we hear about? :confused:
We have 2 Golden Retrievers and 2 kids. We love our 'very well suited for our family' dogs! They're calm natured and very protective of all of us. We're fortunate to have a nice size back-yard. The dogs love to play and while some might think they're being rambunctious - they're really just playing and having fun. A good part of the day, our dogs are lazy, lazy, lazy!
Golden Retrievers are known to have a friendly nature - they're good with adults and kids. They're also good with other dogs. So if that's your choice for your family - I think you're making a great one!

The dog to get if you have kids---DEFINITELY a retriever!!!! Great great family dog!!!

Golden Retrievers make the PERFECT family pet! They are the most beloved and popular family dog. Golden Retrievers are very obedient and easy to train. Not only do they make a great family pet, they're also ideal as a service and / or support dogs as well as site dogs. They're also used in search & rescue.

Golden Retrievers are great pets. They’re family dogs and great for beginner owners. If I would choose another dog then I would choose a Golden retriever.
